Dr. Marlynn Wei, MD, JD is a Harvard- and Yale-trained psychiatrist, psychotherapist, and author whose work lies at the intersection of AI, mental health, and ethics. Dr. Wei is a national voice on emerging clinical, ethical, and therapeutic issues in AI and has been interviewed widely about the risks and benefits of AI therapy, human-AI relationships, “AI psychosis,” and digital immortality.
Dr. Wei writes and speaks to clinicians, technologists, policymakers, and public audiences, providing an evidence-based perspective on clinical, ethical, and legal issues of AI in mental health. She recently testified on the mental health risks of AI chatbots before the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee at the hearing on Innovation with Integrity: Examining the Risks and Benefits of AI Chatbots. She has written for Psychology Today for over a decade, where her articles have received nearly 4 million views. She has shared her expertise on CBS Mornings, PBS NewsHour, and Fox Business, among other national media outlets.
